Why Group Therapy Can Feel Like the Missing Side Quest

When people hear “group therapy,” they sometimes imagine sitting in a circle, being put on the spot, or having to share things they aren’t ready for. The truth is, group therapy can look very different — especially when it combines trauma-informed care with the creativity of tabletop roleplaying games (TTRPGs).

In our Resilience Quest groups, kids, teens, and adults aren’t just “talking about problems.” They’re stepping into characters, telling stories, and practicing skills in a way that feels playful, safe, and empowering.

For parents, this means your child isn’t pressured to open up before they’re ready. Instead, they get to explore communication, confidence, and connection through a role — learning how to express themselves, problem-solve with peers, and feel proud of who they are.

For adults, group therapy can feel like a chance to breathe. Many of us carry stress, anxiety, or isolation into our daily lives. Through roleplay, you get to try on new ways of connecting, expressing yourself, and building confidence in a supportive, guided environment.

Healing doesn’t have to be a grind — sometimes it’s just one side quest away.
